Karvatei — My First Book
Karvatein is my first published collection of Hindi short stories — tales that explore the quiet yet powerful moments when life takes a turn. At the heart of these stories are women: their silences and voices, their hidden strength, their dreams, their struggles, and the resilience that carries them forward.
Every story is rooted in lived experience — some drawn from memory, some from observation, and some from the inner landscapes we all carry. They are intimate, reflective, and unapologetically human.
The title Karvatein (turns, shifts, twists) captures the essence of the book — the way one moment, one choice, or one encounter can change the direction of an entire life. For women especially, these turns often happen quietly, unnoticed by the world, yet they leave a deep imprint.
This book is more than just a literary milestone — it is a tribute to the artistic legacy of my family. My father, Late Sh.Rajendra Pradeep, a respected Hindi, English and award winning urdu writer and academic, spent his life nurturing literature and young writers. Releasing Karvatein at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak — where he retired — is my way of honoring his journey.
The Sydney launch, planned on his birth centenary in March 2026, carries the same spirit: keeping alive his tradition of creativity, truth, and reflection.
Themes You’ll Find
Women’s stories — resilience, silence, courage, and the choices that shape them
Family and relationships — bonds tested by time and change
Society and tradition — how culture both nurtures and restricts
Though written in Hindi, these stories cross boundaries. Readers will find echoes of their own lives — in Sydney, Delhi, Fiji, Haryana, or anywhere women and families face change, compromise, and courage.

Karvatein is my first published work, but the stories within have lived with me for decades — in diaries, performances, conversations, and silences. My hope is that each reader will find in these pages a reflection of their own karvat — their own turn in life.
